How to Find Inspiration Through Traveling
Well, you are probably wondering how inspiration and traveling align with one another. We actually found inspiration through traveling which changed our entire outlook on life.
Here is how you can also find clarity and meaning in your life through travel:
Get in the right mindset
Mindset is everything. Why are you traveling? Why did you choose this destination?
These are all questions that you could be asking yourself. Once you are able to answer those questions you can then begin the next step in your magical journey.
Pay attention to the little things
Many times while we are traveling we often forget to pay attention to the details. By details we mean paying attention to the daily life of the locals. Observe how they communicate because you might be surprised by how calm they are. When we were in Italy we quickly learned the power of simplicity.
Embrace the different lifestyle
The Italian lifestyle is much different than our American lifestyle. In America we are constantly on the go and rarely take time to sit, breathe, and observe our surroundings. On the other hand, the European lifestyle is the opposite. Many of the locals sit and chat for hours on end and focus on what is in front of them rather than what may be behind or ahead of them. This lesson stuck with us after our unique night in Italy.
Italians are able to make a fiesta out of three ingredients, a party with five friends, and an experience of a lifetime with one thing: yourself.
How we found inspiration in Sorrento
At first, when we were at the local beach in Piano, the scenery of the beach wasn’t quite what we had expected. It was not what we had pictured the luxurious “Amalfi coast” to look like. Don’t get us wrong, it was still beautiful, it was just different. The beach was in a cove surrounded by cliffs that consisted of a few lounge chairs, a man-made beach, the water, and a few Italians. There was no need for anything more than what there was. No beach club, no music, no phones, just you yourself and the simple Italian life.
At this moment, we felt the most content we have ever felt. We looked around and saw the beautiful ocean, and the dark sand, and listened to the beautiful Italian language and the laughter of the people around us. We had an epiphany: “Us Americans have such a hard time doing nothing.” We realized the divide between Italians and Americans is significant.
Italians make something out of nothing and pride themselves on relaxation and food. Eating is not something that is frowned upon nor rushed. It is an experience. Each time Italians sit down for a meal, whether it be coffee or some pasta, they eat and drink it with pure pleasure.
On the other hand, we Americans need way more than some things to even make anything! More salt, more cheese, more people, more clothes; the wanting of more never ends.
With this being said, let traveling inspire you so one day you can inspire others.
